How We Started

John's passion for jewelry making started while attending St Catherine's High School from 1976 to 1980.  He enrolled in the art metals class where he truly excelled in working with metals.   His instructor Ms Preston recognized his talent and skill and recommended  several schools for jewelry.  Upon graduation in 1980,   John attended Gem City College, in Quincy IL for  Jewelry Manufacturing Art, Hand Engraving and Gun Engraving.

After earning his diplomas from Gem City College, John moved to Tulsa, OK and worked as a bench jeweler until 1987 when he and is now wife Audrey Langenfeld left to study at the  Gemological Institute of America.  In 1988 John and Audrey both earned the title Graduate Gemologist G.G. (G.I.A.) and Jewelry Designer (G.I.A)

The couple returned back to there home town and began working for other jewelry stores and a Gem Labs before breaking out on their own. 

On November 24, 2006,  everything that the Langenfeld's were working towards their whole life  went from a DREAM to REALITY .   GOLD DIAMOND & DESIGN

John and Audrey opened up their store in Kenosha, WI where the stayed until March of 2019 when they purchased a Historical Building built in 1872, located at 402 Main Street Racine WI.   They transformed the building into the Gem of  Downtown.
